Dr. Mia Yang was born and lived in China until the age of 12. Spending her formative years with her grandparents (photo) inspired her eventual decision to specialize in geriatrics.
She is a proud graduate of University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill twice: undergraduate Bachelor of Science in Biology and Doctor of Medicine. Go Heels!
After medical school, she completed internal medicine residency at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center in Baltimore MD.
She was inspired by many fantastic mentors who are geriatricians and decided to stay at Hopkins for geriatric fellowship.
Dr. Mia's professional journey after fellowship took her back to her home state of NC, where she practices in a large academic medical center (but do not speak on behalf of her current employer), involved in clinical care, teaching, and clinical research. She is an expert in home-based medical care as well as dementia care and research.
She has been interviewed and featured on CNN and NPR Morning Edition. She has also written Op Eds on MedPage Today. She has also been recognized as Top Doctor in America in 2021 and 2022. Her goal with media is to democratize aging-related knowledge so that everyone can be empowered to take charge of your or your loved one's health!
